The Conclusion!!

I am so happy that this is the last blog of the year! Looking  back on all of my blogs I don't feel to proud of all of them. I know I didn't do all of my blogs this year so some are missing from my list. I notice that I started to get lazy in the end of the year and I just wanted to get my blogs done so I could get point for them. In the beginning of the year I could see that I was a least trying to do a good Job and do my best. Then getting towards the end I notice that I would skip around and add thing in random place to fill in gaps so it would take up more room.

This year the blog that I have liked the most was my Boo Radley blog. I know it wasn't the best blog but I like the way we have to think of  away to connect the novel to my own life and not make something up. Looking back on this on blog I have really learned even more than when I wrote the blog is "you can't judge a book by its cover." I think that this applys to not just my blog but all the work I have done this year. My work this year hasn't been the prettiest thing or the most organized but I think that in the long run I tried my hardest to do the best I can. I think that in many ways I have improved in my writer but I still need to work on it.

In the blogs that we would have to make something up or evaluate someone I saw that it would be a really short blog. On some of  the blog assignment I like I could have taken more of my time to do them and not just spend 10 minutes on them. To this day I still feel like I jump around in my writing. I also know that I didn't do all of my blogs, I know there is no real reason why didn't them and no excuse.

Poetry

I haven't had many experiences with poetry. Not more than the couple poem we have read in my other classes. Nursery rhymes are what I have had the most exposure to. To me nursery rhyme are more than what your parents tell you before bed, to me Nursery rhymes can make connections between parents and their children. I remember when my mom would always tell one nursery rhyme to me almost every day.

The nursery rhyme is called You are My Sunshine. The reason that this really stuck out when I read this blog assignment was because of the memories that I have tied to it. Not many people know this nursery rhyme and I can see how some people might not see it as a nursery rhyme.

For poetry in general I am not a big fan. For me poetry has to many answer to one question. There are many points of views on the same thing and all can be right, and that is the part that I really don't care for. I like to have a  right and a wrong answer not more than one correct answer. If I can understand the poem than  my view is a little different. If I can understand than I can sometimes relate so I can understand the poem even more. I think that I could learn to like poetry but I don't know about loving poetry.

Favorite assignment

When I read the this assignment I really had to think about all of the projects, essays and all the other thing that we had done. I think the most memorable assignment is The Great Expectations essay. I think that is mostly because I still haven't turned it in. But this blog is suppose to be about an assignment that I am proud of. So the project that I am the most proud about is the last project we did. Which was the outside reading. I read The Color Purple.

When I read the first page it made me become very interested in the book. I feel like I worked really hard on every part of this project. I don't know what score I got on the book talk but I feel like I got a good grade. Even if I don't get an A, like I hope, I know that I did my best and tried my hardest.

Modern Day Romeo+ Juliet

There is a movie called Keith. I was looking for something to watch one day on Netflix and found the movie. This movie is based around two teenagers that far in love despite all of their peers and parents. The two don't fall in love after the first time of meeting like Romeo + Juliet. I think that this movie has many of the same concept as Romeo + Juliet. But I think it is still related to Romeo+ Juliet. It was a good movie, but it is one of those movie were you watch it  on a day were you are at home sick and have nothing better to do.

Connections

While reading this book at home I can understand what is going happening on the surface. But when we discuss what we read at home in class it make me look at it in a new way. I think that it is hard to relate to the play in many ways. One thing that I can relate to in the play is with Juliet.  Even though I did have a mom that loved me and I lived with her. I was raised by another woman. My mom worked a lot when I was younger and I would spend a lot of time with my moms best friend. Just like Juliet I will always love my real mother and would do anything for her, but someone else was always there that wasn't my mother.

Reading this play has been difficult. It hasn't been the hardest play or novel that we have read. At times Romeo + Juliet can be every hard to understand what is going on, but if I go back and re-read the part that I am confused I usually can figure out what is going on. In class when we read and discuss the play I understand it in a different way. In class it is easier to find the puns, and the metaphors. I think that reading the play in class is really smart and isn't a waste of time. Reading it aloud has really helped me understand the play.

Great Expectations: Thoughts on Reading

After Finishing Great Expectation I like the novel. At the beginning of the novel I didn't think I would like it at all. But that changed through my reading of the book. I like the different types of characters, even though  there are a lot of them. But I am not sure if I like Dickens writing style. One thing I like about Dickens writing was the way he descried all of the settings. I love the way he uses the sun in so many different ways. At times I didn't understand what Dickens was trying to get across.  I have to say that without spark-notes I think I would only understand a little bit of the novel or maybe any of it. Having the discussions in the small groups also helped me understand the mysteries.

While reading this novel I don't think I changed my routine of getting up and staying up late. Maybe if I did get up a little earlier and read the parts a little more careful I would have understood it a little better. One thing that I did have to do was cram in many numbers of page on Thursday nights so that I could do my journal assignment. Even though I usually didn't do my journal because I was tired and want to do something that was fun.

Connections and Pictures

I don't have much to compare Great Expectations by Charles Dickens too. I think that To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is similar but also very different. Both of the novels are about growing up and coming of age.In Great Expectations Pip has a grows up living with his sister that raises he "by hand"; and Scout grows up in a more loving and caring house-hold. But Scout grows up in a racial period  Both Pip and Scout face challenges.

Dickens and Lee have very different writing styles. Dickens gives many details to characters that are being introduced. Dickens uses animals to compare some of his characters in Great Expectations. Dickens also refers to the other novels that he has written. On the other hand Lee's writing style is different than Dickens. Lee's TKAM is more based on racial times. No author can be compared to close to Dickens because of his every original writing style.

These two novels are the similar as well. Both based on young children that are growing up. Both Pip and Scout want their life's to be different. Pip want to become a gentlemen. Scouts everything to be fixed between the people in Maycomb.

In TKAM scout doesn't like Boo's House.
In Great Expectations Pip say that he doesn't want to go home but then he doesn't want to leave once he gets there.
